What is Your Virtual Library?
There is a big English speaking population in almost every French department. Go into almost any house and you find a conucopia of reading matter, most of it read and never to be read again. Each time one goes back to the old mother country, perhaps one or two new books are added to the collection, and so it grows, until it sometimes feels as if your home is being consumed by books.
Instead of keep adding, why not swap with others who may have books you would like to read and who may be interested in ones that you have? The problem is how. There are vides greniers, foires, marches etc where there is often a stall or two with English language books for sale, but who has the time to look through the mass to find a title that might interest you? Your Virtual Library is the answer.
It is absolutely FREE for the first year, so click HERE to sign up and you can enter basic details of your own surplus book collection and start swapping with others.
How to use it
The Virtual Library is very simple to use:
- Log in with your email address and password
- You will go to the Find Books page that lets you look for new reading matter
- Click on My Books tab to add or delete books
- Click on My Account to amend your details
Click HERE to see a step-by-step demonstration on how it works.
The libraries are organised by department, as it is not likely that you will want to travel vast distances for a book swap - and even less likely that the other member will. However, if, perhaps, you are searching for a particular title and you don't see it in the initial search, you can extend the search over all departments covered by the scheme and come to some arrangement with the other member maybe to post it to you. (This, incidentally is a big advantage of being a member of PayPal which allows you to easily transfer money to cover the postage.)
Your Virtual Library is only as good as its content and the more members, then the richer and more diverse this content will be, affording pleasure to more and more English-speaking ex-pats enjoying their lives in France. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO JOIN TOO.
